Marshfield Medical Center-Minocqua celebrated a grand opening for a four-bed sleep lab in the fall of 2021. Staffed with board-certified polysomnography technologists, this addition provides access for patients living in and around the Minocqua service area. Amit Biswas, M.D., Minocqua sleep lab medical director, provide care to the community.

“Sleep disorders, especially sleep apnea, are very common medical problems and left untreated have a lot of medical comorbidities,” said Dr. Biswas. “There is an increased risk of stroke and heart disease, which can be catastrophic for some patients. Sleep studies can help in diagnosis and treatment of these medical issues, preventing potential long-term complications and disability.”

Marshfield Medical Center-Neillsville recently opened a two-bed sleep lab. Previously, Neillsville area patients had to travel to Marshfield to have studies conducted. Sleep medicine providers in Neillsville include Hema Murali, M.D., pediatric neurologist and sleep medicine specialist, and Prompan Mingbunjerdsuk, M.D., starting in 2022.

“The new lab will address the shortage of sleep study services in the region as well as offer comprehensive sleep medicine services locally in Neillsville,” said Jaime Boero, M.D., sleep medicine director. “We’re excited to add these services in our new state-of-the-art medical campus, providing easy access for residents close to home.”
