Two conditions to steer clear of during the winter months are frostbite and hypothermia. Both can occur in a matter of minutes if the temperature is cold enough.
“The worst few cases I can remember for frostbite or hypothermia involved stranded motorists,” said Abby Mallek Karch, a certified physician assistant in urgent care with Marshfield Clinic. “The really big danger I see for people in cold-weather climates like Wisconsin is drinking alcohol and then snowmobiling.”
