It’s now as simple as that, thanks to a new comprehensive spine care phone number and appointing process that started in Stevens Point, Wausau and Weston in August 2022. The goal is to improve patient-centered care, and simplify things for those we serve.
Appointing staff gather information from patients who call the phone number and pass it on to a triage nurse. Within approximately 24 hours, the nurse will review the information and, if necessary, consult with providers in orthopedics spine surgery, physical medicine & rehabilitation and pain management. The nurse will transfer the patient to the department that will best suit their spine care needs.
“Our providers in these departments work closely with each other on a daily basis to make sure each patient gets care that is tailored to their needs,” said Carrie Arrowood, operations manager. “We’re excited to offer this to our community, because it should allow us to avoid unnecessary appointments and give patients one point of contact when they have back pain.”
